Job Title

Manager, Account Management (Urban Transit/Smart Cities)Overview
• The U.S. Public Sector Business Development team is responsible for commercial card (G2B), prepaid card (G2C), Smart Cities (City Possible), and consulting business development within the United States. A major area of focus for the business is expanding our work in transit/urban mobility. Transit helps grow Mastercard acceptance through the expansion of open-loop payments and is a key driver of new product development. In addition, the role plays a critical role in our Smart Cities strategy and in helping to grow our consulting and data analytics business as well as drive our City Possible program.

• The position focuses on expanding our Transit/Urban Mobility and Inclusion business development through identifying/managing customers, developing new solutions, and managing and closing sales deals.

• This position will also help advance the broader public sector business development goals by assisting the Public Sector Business Development Team leader with high-priority initiatives as well as supporting key industry events.

Role
• Take ownership of Mastercard's relationships with principal transit authorities and system integrators and lead Mastercard's support for them by innovating around urban mobility payments and interactions.
• Promote the full potential of contactless and mobile payments technology and data/analytics to enhance user experiences and open-up opportunities to introduce ‘smarter' forms of interaction between city and citizen.
• Drive revenue for Mastercard transit's business by identifying key business opportunities and managing sales efforts from end-to-end
• Conduct quantitative analysis to build financial models and business cases as well as demonstrate the value of solutions and show their effectiveness (strong knowledge of Excel & creating new business models required)
• Independently own and create customized presentations for use with clients
• Work cross-functionally to identify requirements for BD opportunities, tailor value propositions, and present business cases to internal (market leaders) and external (customers) stakeholders
• Work with internal teams to creatively and analytically identify how Mastercard products and data can solve customer pain points
• Communicate, consult and present to senior management on all phases of the business development effort
• Conduct various market research projects including market sizing and value proposition identification
• Support other Smart Cities business development efforts including City Possible, Global Transit Initiatives and Advisors sales

All About You
• Transportation/public sector experience and aptitude and/or consulting or strategy development experience
• Business development, sales, or customer success experience in a transit environment is a plus
• Experience in a corporate environment interfacing with senior and executive level management and senior customers
• Ability to conduct outreach to new organizations and navigate an organization
• Strong critical thinking and problem solving skills
• Self-starter with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Ability to quickly learn the various Mastercard products and services as well the role and structure of public sector providers
Experience and skills
• Making the case for customers to embark upon complex, technology-enabled transformation initiatives
• Mobilizing programs across multiple organizations (customer; partners; suppliers) and managing delivery to successful outcomes
• Strong research skills and the ability to effectively interpret, communicate and act on the results
• Collaborative mindset with respect to internal colleagues and management located in other locations
