Overview

The SSO Data Science team is looking for a Direct of Data Engineering to be a senior practitioner and lead a team of data engineers responsible for building and maintaining robust, scalable data pipelines and platforms that support R&D, build and run activities for one of Mastercard's flagship AI fraud models.


Role

As a Director of Data Engineering, you will:

Be a senior practitioner and lead a team of data engineers delivering production quality data pipelines to support internal model teams.
Work closely with the business and data science owners to understand business and technical requirements
Work with multiple disparate sources of data, storage systems, and build processes and pipelines to provide cohesive datasets for analysis and modeling
Generate and maintain and optimize data pipelines for model building and model performance evaluation
Set the roadmap and identify methods and approaches that enhances efficiency of new and existing pipelines
Overall responsibility for development, testing, and evaluation of modern data engineering data assets that enable internal data science teams.
Oversee implementation of production pipelines that feed read-time models


All About You

Essential Skills for this position:

Extensive data engineering experience and significant leadership roles
Demonstrated full lifecycle pipeline development, deployment and evaluation for complex problems
Python, PySpark, Hadoop, Databricks
Good communication skills
Exhibits a high degree of initiative
At least an undergraduate degree in CS, or a STEM related field

Nice to have:

PhD/Master's in CS, Data Science, Machine Learning, AI or a related STEM field
Experience with data engineering in PySpark using Spark ML on petabyte scale data
Understands and implements methods to evaluate own work and others for inaccuracy and error
Loves working with error-prone, messy, disparate, semi-structured data

In line with Mastercard's total compensation philosophy and assuming that the job will be performed in the US, the successful candidate will be offered a competitive base salary and may be eligible for an annual bonus or commissions depending on the role. The base salary offered may vary depending on multiple factors, including but not limited to location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Pay Ranges

O'Fallon, Missouri: $170,000 - $281,000 USD
