Director, Consumer Marketing & SponsorshipRole Overview:
Serve as the voice of consumer, through leveraging insights and analytics to align these with passions that drive consumer behaviour and serve to differentiate Mastercard and Mastercard partner marketing activities, across Australia, New Zealand and Pacific Islands.

Within the Australasian Marketing team, the Director of Consumer Marketing and Sponsorship plays a critical role leading our Priceless Brand campaign and platforms, Sponsorships, Media planning and buying including management of digital media partnerships, and owned digital channels/media. The Consumer Marketing lead is responsible for building and growing a Consumer Marketing organization focused on identifying, developing and executing innovative, end-to-end consumer marketing programs and media plans. In addition, the lead will identify sponsorship properties, contract, manage and develop partnerships to drive consumer preference and loyalty. They will also lead business hospitality programs associated with the sponsorships properties.

They will lead marketing professionals both internally and by way of retained agency village, in holistic Brand Management; to ensure that plans leverage our brand equity and assets, create consumer engagement and are a competitive advantage for Mastercard in creating customer value propositions for issuers and merchants; and are executed flawlessly.

Their team will work closely with the teams in B2B Marketing, Communications, Issuer Marketing both locally and with the regional and global teams. The lead will also manage all operations and Marketing of Priceless platforms, including Priceless.com – a key differentiator for Mastercard. The lead of Consumer Marketing will procure content for Priceless Cities manage ongoing planning and operations of offer management and develop customized solutions for customers.

The lead of Consumer Marketing should continue to advance each consumer discipline (advertising, media, digital, sponsorship) to be best-in-class, cutting-edge and increasingly multi-sensory – including digital innovation, sonic branding, Priceless and beyond.

Their leadership will aid in building a consumer team of world-class marketers.

Role Details:
Success will be when marketplace results show that Australasian Consumer Marketing, Media and Sponsorships delivered differentiation, have driven positive brand value, supported deal-wins driving distribution and, ultimately, revenue for Mastercard.

The role includes leadership & delivery of:
• Brand Strategy and Management - Transpose business objectives into marketing objectives, insight-led strategies and plans. Scope areas include consumer segmentation, brand experience and positioning, advertising, channel content and distribution strategies, and the marketing platforms of Priceless.com, Priceless Causes and Priceless Surprises. Manage brand health and manage contractual commitments for brand health among any customer deals.
• Drive Preference & Revenue through Marketing Propositions & Programs – Flawlessly execute multi-disciplinary marketing initiatives that innovative, are scalable and repeatable. Includes critical focus on driving new product awareness, innovative CVP creation, adoption, usage and creating appeal and usage among multiple segments of customers and their consumers.
• Management of Sponsorship Function - Development of portfolio of Sponsorship Properties based upon overall consumer and business strategies for the Division (current portfolio includes Australian Open, Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron, Sydney Opera House, Taronga Zoo). Define and evolve the forward looking sponsorship & ambassador strategy, evaluate all deals that come up for renewal, identify new/desired properties to meet usage among key consumer segments. Manage portfolio of partnerships to ensure Mastercard brand preference and usage, leverage for priceless platforms, unique experiences for cardholders and business hospitality opportunities for customers. Foster senior level relationships at Sponsorship properties to ensure Mastercard gets full value out of relationships. Work closely with B2B Marketing to develop passthrough rights and programs for B2B2C Marketing through issuers and merchants. Lead for compliance and governance for IMC.
• Media Planning, Relationship Management and Owned/New Media Asset Management – Develop media plans based upon business and marketing strategies. Ensure the most efficient and effective media plans that drive more value for every dollar of media spend. Ensure leverage of new media and advance digital media practices. Foster critical relationships directly with media partners to ensure Mastercard is continually brought strategic media opportunities. Develop “added-value” media buys to ensure all deliver on our Priceless Platforms. Leverage media for content development for social media and/or Priceless Platforms. Manage and maintain all owned media assets including websites and develop - Keep abreast of new technologies, innovations and consumer technology adoption (e.g. Alexa skills, AR/VR, etc).
• Performance Management Optimization -- Promote a culture of innovation, learning, testing, and ROI measurement; roll out and scale effective solutions and eliminate investments that don't scale or perform to standard
• Business alignment – Effectively communicate with sales and product teams; coordinate with other internal Marketing Teams to ensure that partnership goals with Issuers, Merchants, Agencies are met and to make the most of all channels available. Support IMC efforts to respond to customer RFPs and develop marketing related materials
• People - Build and lead a team of world-class, business-biased consumer marketing professionals; senior Business Managers. Oversea from compliance to goal setting and performance appraisal processes, identifies and coaches top talent
• Financial & accounting acumen; responsible for marketing budget and marketing sales revenue. Able to maximise marketing budget through efficient investment.

About You:
• Do you have expert-level brand management and business experience, with a track record of successful results in both strategy and practice; in diverse and complex assignments?
• Have you led consumer marketing teams in the consumer packaged goods, merchant retail or consumer financial services industries?
• Do you have strong influencing and impact skills; born out of exceptional thinking, numeracy, communication and collaboration skills?
• Have you led internal and external (Agency) teams in creating effective advertising campaigns?
• Have you experience negotiating with rights holders, agencies, media partners and customers alike?
• Have you delivered world class Sponsorship programs across consumer and B2B audiences?
• Are you proficient in performance management discipline – setting success metrics, evaluating results and promoting continuous improvement?
• Have you an ability to leverage multiple sources of data to identify insights to develop strategy and identify insights for marketing activities.
• Do you have a bandwidth for volume and urgency of work; enjoy solving dilemmas to optimize finite resources; thrive in exciting, creative ambiguity?
• Are you relentless in seeing big ideas to execution and have a proven track record of innovating and scaling new Marketing concepts?
