Title and Summary

Director, AI Governance Overview
The Data Strategy and Management team is looking for a Director, AI Governance to drive our Responsible AI strategy forward by consistently innovating and problem-solving. The successful candidate will report to the Vice President, Data Strategy, in the office of the Chief Data Officer. The ideal candidate is passionate about Responsible Tech, intellectually curious and collaborative.

In this exciting and responsible role, you will:
- Assess and mitigate project risk, by reviewing data science projects for risk (e.g. bias risk), analyzing artifacts including model evaluation results, and recommending risk mitigation strategies.
- Identify opportunities to improve AI Governance processes, making them clearer, faster to work with and more comprehensive.
- Work with data science leaders, engineering, legal and risk management partners, as well as external and internal researchers, to drive improvements and innovative research in Responsible AI.
- Realize your personal values and Mastercard's AI Ethics and Data Ethics principles, by advancing strategic objectives that include defining standards and guidance, implementing AI regulatory requirements, developing and sponsoring new tools and capabilities.
- Participate in the Responsible Tech community and help shape Mastercard's thinking on Responsible AI.

Ideally, you:
- Have experience creating machine learning or statistical model-based solutions as part of a team.
- Have an eye for detail and an interest in analyzing data and solutions to understand them. Ideally, you care about solution quality and reproducibility.
- Possess the emotional intelligence and negotiation skills required to productively work with a diverse range of technical and business-focused partners.
- Are skilled at explaining complex or technical problems succinctly and clearly.
- Are located in the Eastern or Central time zone.

The following is also desirable:
- Experience using Python tools and modern machine learning frameworks to develop and deploy models.
- Experience managing live/deployed models and a knowledge of ML Ops best practices and tooling.
- Awareness of and interest in trends in Artificial Intelligence, as well as a view on their regulatory or ethical import.
- Interest in opportunities to show thought leadership and engage with public audiences through participation in events, writing and collaboration.
